- Professional profile:
I graduated from Cairo University in 1991 and specialised in Paediatrics in 1993. I trained in the specialised children's hospital at Cairo University for seven years and was awarded MSc and MD degree in paediatrics. I relocated to the UK in 2001 and sub-specialised in neonatal intensive care medicine. My neonatal experience spans more than seven years both in the UK and abroad.
I was fortunate to train in four of the busiest neonatal intensive care units in London which offered neonatal medical and surgical care in addition to neonatal transport. I have developed special interest and gained broad experience in neonatal cardio-respiratory care including the immediate and long term management of complex neonatal respiratory conditions. I have a firm comittment to teaching, which I always enjoyed and regarded as an integral part of my neonatal practice. I am passionate about developing an inclusive culture of multi-professional learning within the work environment. This year, I was awarded the postgraduate certificate in Healthcare Education at St George's University of London. I always maintained a high commitment to teaching through innovation and have been heavily involved in multi-professional educational programmes which aim to promote the standards of care for premature infants in a developing country and have disseminated the European experience in local publications.
I have always maintained a high committment to research and my research profile includes a variety of publications in good impact journals. Beyond the confines of my NHS post, I am an active member of BAPM, TRPG and the neonatal society. I intend to bring this wealth of neonatal clinical teaching research experience to the benefit of the Medway neonatal unit.
