FaceMaskNews

In line with national guidance, and Medway NHS Foundation Trust’s living with Covid plans, we are reducing the need for disposable face masks to be worn in some areas of Medway Maritime Hospital.

From Monday 20 March 2023, disposable face masks need to be worn by patients, visitors and staff in the following areas only, unless you are exempt or you wish to wear one in other areas of the hospital:

  • All assessment units
  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
  • McCulloch Ward
  • Critical Care Unit - including the Coronary Care Unit
  • Lawrence Ward
  • Galton Day Unit

Face masks will still be available in the main entrance and in the areas where masks must be worn.

Patients and visitors are welcome to wear a mask or face covering in other areas of the hospital if it is their personal preference to do so.

To help keep everyone safe our infection prevention and control (IPC) measures are kept under constant review and will be stepped up or down according to the risks posed.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
