Here at Medway NHS Foundation Trust we understand that now is a difficult time for many people and understandably, some of our patients have concerns about coming to the hospital unless absolutely necessary. We too are keen to limit the number of people on site at any one time and therefore we have introduced a new service to help our audiology patients.

The Audiology Department at Medway Maritime Hospital has teamed up with a number of local supermarkets to offer an alternative service for hearing aid issues.

If your hearing aid is faulty or has stopped working completely, it can be dropped to one of the following locations:

  • Asda Strood - Customer Services
  • Sainsbury’s Hempstead Valley - Customer Services
  • Tesco Rainham - Customer Services
  • Asda Gravesend – Opticians

They can also be dropped off at Sittingbourne Memorial Hospital.

Please place the aid in an envelope with your full name, address, phone number and email address if possible.

Audiology staff collect the aids on a Monday and return the repaired items the following Monday.

If your hearing aid only requires replacement batteries, please send a stamped addressed envelope directly to the audiology department:

Juley Bexley, Head of Audiology, said: “We hope that this service will make life easier and more convenient for our patients by enabling them to resolve problems with their hearing aids without having to come to the hospital.

“Thank you so much for the local stores that have enabled this service – it is very much appreciated.”
