After your appointment

Follow up appointments

You may need a follow up appointment. Your doctor should advise you if this is necessary and if so when you should expect this to take place. The receptionist may arrange this for you at the time, but if not we will write to you. After your appointment we will write to your GP. Please let us know if you do not want copies of these letters.

If your appointment is somewhere in the future you will be contacted nearer the time with an appointment date.

Prescriptions

After your appointment, if you need a taxi to take you home we have a designated taxi phone situated at the front entrance of the hospital. Any member of staff can direct you to the taxi phone.

Patient Service Centre

The Patient Service Centre team can help you with changing, cancelling or confirming outpatient appointments and any general enquiries if you are not sure who you should contact in the Trust. The friendly and helpful team will answer your query if they can, or find you the most appropriate person to help you. When you call, it would be very helpful if you could have your appointment letter or NHS number to hand as they will often need to access your details on the IT systems. Staff will ask you to verify your telephone contact number and address so that all of your information is updated. They may also ask whether you are happy for us to use a text reminder service prior to your appointment if you have a mobile phone.

If you need help with booking, arranging or cancelling your appointment, please get in touch with the Patient Service Centre as soon as possible. If possible, please have your NHS number or appointment letter to hand when you ring as this helps us to handle your query more quickly.
